Buildings, streets, shops, noises, and the air. There are these familiar places, sights, sounds and tones that make us feel at home. Those senses of warmth and fuzziness, the sense of belonging that they bring are a different kind of bliss and a peace almost.MG road is one among those places for me. Even as I say it out loud, MG road makes me feel at home.
Bangalore has gone from green to grey and with it MG road has changed too. While it changed in form with new structures, walking down that road has not lost its charm. A morning walk down MG road is a pleasure of a unusual kind that does not fail to charm. The atmosphere, the journey and those nooks that have survived, bring back a rush of memories to my mind. And after I have taken my stride it’s time for a good breakfast. How about some Luchis, mishti cholaar daal and dum aloo at the charming little confectionery just around the curb on St Mark’s road? If you haven’t guessed, I’m referring to KC Das.No you don’t go there to pick from a spread but you go there for a perfectly fashioned plate of Luchis (fried puffed Indian bread), mishti cholaar daal (sweet Bengal gram curry) and dum aloo(potato gravy) to be followed by their nicely formulated chai. The smell of ghee, the hot swollen puffed Luchis, the sweet daal and the MG road morning is a combination of pleasure and tranquility that must not be missed. This Bengali delight will bring your tranquil morning to a rich finish. I can no longer describe this as it can only be felt.So here’s a suggestion to forget about the English breakfast in the vicinity and instead experience a good old Indian one.
